Your first orthodontic appointment is one of the most important steps in your orthodontic treatment. This is when you can tell us what you need, and our Montreal orthodontist can suggest the right orthodontic treatment for you.
In preparation for your first appointment
If you are interested in an orthodontic treatment for children, teenagers or adults, it is important to prepare for your first appointment with Dr. Nguyen. In order to create your file three steps are to be followed.
First, we need a completed medical questionnaire that you will find below. Please fill it out before your first appointment at the clinic and join it to the documents to be submitted below. We need this information to assess the impact of past or present medical problems on the development of your jaws and teeth.
Second, we need two X-rays (one panoramic and one cephalometric). A panoramic X-ray shows your teeth, facial bones and temporomandibular joints in a single image. A cephalometric X-ray is slightly different: it allows us to visualize abnormalities in your jaw development and the position of your teeth, in profile.
The third and last thing we need to complete your file is a series of 4 photos of your face and 5 of your teeth. These images will allow us to clearly see which orthodontic problems we will be addressing during your orthodontic treatment.

What happens at your first orthodontic appointment?
The clinical examination will be performed by Dr. Nguyen. During this initial consultation, which lasts approximately 45 to 60 minutes, you can discuss your needs and expectations from an orthodontic intervention. Following the clinical evaluation, Dr. Nguyen will explain her diagnosis and outline treatment objectives and methods.

We will explain all your options, keeping you informed of the advantages and disadvantages of whichever treatment you choose. You’ll be given an estimate of your treatment time and a fixed fee. We will also recommend when your treatment should begin.
